Bailey Streetscene was appointed to provide street furniture elements to a newly transformed 1960s era residential building in the city of Salford. The project by Wilmott Dixon working alongside Salix Homes and architects Corstorphine & Wright sees much need renovations to the ageing Canon Green Court both inside and out as well as a newly built 11-storey apartment block within the grounds of the site.
The exterior of the grounds has been re-landscaped and features new seating areas, planting, resident growing areas, bin stores, new paving, and car parking spaces.
External seating is now provided with a selection of Greengate benches and seats. A refined take on a traditional bench and seat - clad with durable Sapele timbers - the Greengate range has become a popular addition in a variety of external schemes.
Arrowhead concrete benches sit at the main entrance - the monolithic arrowhead shape offers a unique and resilient alternative to conventional seats and acts as a central feature to the front of the building.
Several Belgravia planters have been placed around the site that bring colour and environmental benefits to the space. The Belgravia planters are self-contained units that are available in a variety of sizes, materials, and finishes.
To complement the building facades and external furniture numerous bollards in hardwood and stainless steel have been placed around the site to delineate pedestrian walkways and parking spaces. Additionally, a bespoke timber pergola structure now sits in the rear garden offering a covered seating area overlooking the city.
Finally, cycle parking spaces have been increased with the addition of numerous stainless steel Sheffield cycle stands to meet new demand with the rise in the popularity of cycling over recent years.
The scheme now offers 100+ new affordable homes as well as improved quality apartments and external spaces for existing residents.
