Moreton Canopy FAQS
It combines robust construction with an elegant design, making it an ideal choice for architects and contractors who are specifying for outdoor environments in educational institutions and commercial developments.
The frame is made from steel, which is known for its strength and resistance to weather and corrosion. You can choose to coat the frame in a standard galvanised finish or you can powder coat it in a huge range of RAL colours.
The roof is made from UV-stable polycarbonate sheeting, providing protection from the elements while allowing natural light to filter through.
These materials ensure the shelter is strong, weather-resistant, and low maintenance, while also allowing natural light to pass through.
You can select different finishes for the steel frame (galvanised or powder coated to any RAL colour - galvanising is carried out in accordance with BS EN ISO 1461:2009).
You can have different colours for the plastic roof (clear, coloured, opaque, or smoked grey), bespoke sizing available to fit your space, and different security additions.
You can also customise the fitting and fixtures of the shelter, where it is available in surface mounted or root fixed options.
Its robust construction and elegant design make it an ideal solution for creating sheltered seating areas, walkways, or outdoor learning spaces.
As the Moreton Canopy is modular you can customise the size to fit your project requirements. Talk to our team for more information.
However, we recommend a team of at least two people for the installation process with a good level of experience.

Moreton Canopy
The Moreton Canopy is a stylish and robust solution for your outdoor shelter needs. Ideal for various environments, from educational institutions to commercial premises.
It is a Gull Wing style canopy which is supported by a series of steel posts and beams, with PET roof extending outwards on both sides, creating a distinctive shape.
Why choose the Moreton Canopy for your project?
The Moreton Canopy by Bailey Streetscene blends elegant design and robust construction, providing the perfect outdoor shelter solution.
As an architect or contractor, why should you specify the Moreton Canopy for your project? Well, there are many benefits to its integration into your project:
Design and aesthetic appeal
The gull wing appearance creates a striking and stylish aesthetic to outside spaces in educational and commercial developments.
The clean lines, material selection and structure design enhances the visual appeal for an outside space.
The simple metal structure together with clear PET sheeting for the roof blends well with most modern buildings, which could be constructed of brick work or other cladding material.
Additionally, the size and proportion of the Moreton Canopy suits commercial or educational buildings either a single story or multiple stories tall. The canopy usually aligns with the ground floor of a building, giving shelter and protection to the area below.
Bespoke sizes to match your project requirements
With various customisation options available, the Moreton Canopy can be made bespoke to match your client’s brief.
The steel structure of the canopy is supplied either galvanised as standard, or can be powder coated with any RAL colour to your specification.
The PET roofing is also available in numerous options, including a standard clear finish (which gives 80% light transmittance) or you can opt for coloured, opaque or a smoked grey finish to match your project environment.
At a glance, the customisable options include:
- Powder coating steel frame in a range of RAL Colours
- Different shades and colours of PET roof
- Varying roof lengths
- Bespoke guttering options
- Leaf guards
Enhanced Functionality
The Moreton Canopy makes outdoor spaces more usable by providing comprehensive protection from the sun, rain, and other weather elements.
The design and construction of the Moreton Canopy means it creates a natural flow of air, providing ventilation and reducing the build up of heat. There is also a reduced risk of water damage to the structure and the area below the canopy.
With the guttering options available, there is little chance of water build up on the roof of the structure.
The frame of the Moreton Canopy is constructed from steel, which is available in a galvanised or powder coated finish in any RAL colour.
A galvanised finish involves submerging the steel in a bath of molten zinc at a temperature of 450 degrees celsius. The molten zinc reacts with the steel to form a series of zinc iron allow layers, providing a sturdy, uniform coating. Galvanising the steel frame gives a high corrosion resistance level, and is probably the most environmentally friendly process available to prevent corrosion.

Moreton Canopy project focus - Robert Clack Lymington Fields School
Bailey Streetscene was pleased to offer the Moreton Canopy as part of external renovation works to Robert Clack Lymington Fields School.
The client brief was for an extensive canopy to surround a large external section of the Lower School building.
A large Moreton Canopy was specified and installed which ran alongside the lower school building, close to the main entrance and around key walkways. The idea was to provide shelter to the area below, for students and teachers to gather and take shade from either the sun or rain.
The unique angled design of the canopy allows water runoff into the structures integral guttering, meaning there is little chance of standing water collecting on the roof.
The Moreton Canopy was supplied along with a range of other street furniture from Bailey Streetscene, including litter bins, cycle stands, and bollards.
The project demonstrates how Bailey Streetscene collaborates with architects and contractors. As we didn’t just simply supply the product, we were also involved with site liaison, logistics and transport, and installation. Our team also successfully managed the project with the tight deadlines that were set in place.
